How to Choose a Commercial Elevator Floor System?

Choose from highly durable epoxy or nearly indestructible MMA floor coatings.

Our Elevator Floor System is a customizable system of products created to meet or exceed the stringent demands placed upon a floor by heavily used elevators. Two general types of resin seamless floor coatings are offered as part of the system:

Self-leveling Epoxy Coating

Our Self-leveling Epoxy coating is a cost-effective and popular option for elevators. It meets the needs of industrial facilities, retail stores, luxury apartment buildings, and office space elevators. Multiple topcoat options are available in gloss, satin, or chemical-resistant finishes.

Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) Coating

MMA is the most hardwearing available option. MMA coatings are widely used in industrial and outdoor elevator applications. They’re semi-flexible and withstand impacts and freeze-thaw conditions, making them perfect for freight elevators, high-volume passenger elevators, manufacturing facility elevators, parking garage elevators, and outdoor lifts. Our Macrylex S26 topcoat is chemical-resistant and can take the abuse of high volumes of traffic and heavy machinery, and weight-bearing loads.

Elevator floors are exposed to some of the most demanding conditions within a building. Every day they must withstand constant foot traffic, rolling loads from carts and luggage, and the movement of heavy equipment. Because elevators operate in confined spaces that experience frequent loading and vibration, flooring materials must be durable, impact resistant, and easy to maintain.

Resinous flooring systems such as epoxy and MMA coatings are often used in elevator cabs because they create seamless surfaces that bond tightly to the substrate. These systems are designed to handle abrasion, impacts, and heavy use while maintaining an attractive appearance for passengers and building occupants.

Epoxy flooring is a popular choice for passenger elevators in office buildings, hotels, and residential towers because it offers durability along with a wide range of decorative finishes. Options such as quartz broadcast systems, resin chips, or metallic epoxy coatings allow designers to match the elevator interior with the surrounding building design.

For more demanding environments such as freight elevators, manufacturing facilities, and parking structures, MMA flooring systems are often selected. These coatings provide exceptional toughness and flexibility, allowing them to perform well under heavy loads and fluctuating temperatures.

Another advantage of resinous elevator flooring is its seamless construction, which eliminates grout lines and joints that can trap dirt or debris. This makes maintenance easier while helping keep the elevator interior looking clean and professional.

With the right floor system and proper installation, elevator flooring can deliver both durability and design flexibility. Modern resin flooring systems allow building owners to create attractive elevator interiors while ensuring long-term performance in high-traffic environments.
