Polyaspartic coatings have long been in use in many application areas, such as topcoats (e.e., for polyurea, self-leveling floor coatings, parking decks or garages), decorative quartz systems (e.q., as a binder for colored sand, decorative mortars). These systems are extensively in various restaurants in New York metro area.
A major benefit of using Polyaspartic coatings is quick return to service. A conventional coating system using 2-part epoxy and polyurethane coatings is a time-consuming and labor intensive process. A curing time of 16 to 24 hours with the epoxy and polyurethane systems means the applicators can only apply one coat per day and have to come to the site at least 3 times. With Polyaspartic coating technology, a 3-coat system can be applied with a roller within a day, saving significant labor costs and hassle for the property owner or manager. In addition, ultra-low VOC and indoor air quality complaint polyaspartics coating systems are now state of the art technology.
Polyaspartic Coating Systems.
a. Pigmented Polyaspartic Coating – Two coats of pigmented Polyaspartic coatings is applied with an anti-skid additive in the second coat. The concrete substrate needs to be prepared thoroughly before applying this coating.
b. Decorative Quartz System – A single broadcast decorative quartz system can be installed in a day. Of course two days are needed for double broadcast which depends on the area of the floor. This system is used behind the bar as well as in the restaurant kitchen.
