Their polished concrete floor will last the life of the business with only minimal maintenance turning their expense into an investment. OverviewAgency RX (Now DDB Health) is a creative advertising agency specializing in the Health Care Industry. Their New York City offices are located in a 12,000 sq. ft. space that occupies 3 floors of a Varick Street building. In 2007/2008 Agency RX remodeled their New York City Offices. The look and feel of their offices needed to reflect the professional, cutting-edge creative services their business provides. They needed a commercial floor that could withstand heavy foot traffic but didn’t look commercial. What was needed was a contemporary look and feel that aligned with the interior colors and design of the creative office space. So when they decided on a flooring option for their studio offices, they wisely chose a concrete overlay.Benefits:Contemporary concrete flooring offers a unique look. Nearly infinite color options and textures can be created, meaning no two floors are the same. Custom interior design projects are easily realized through color, texture, and material choices.Concrete flooring lasts for the life of your business or home.Concrete flooring is low maintenance. For commercial properties a concrete floor should have a clear sealer reapplied every 2-3 years. For residential flooring resealing is only needed every 4-5.Because Duraamen polished concrete and concrete overlay products are known for their high-quality, contemporary style and trend-setting advancements towards ease of installation, they are used by contractor’s nationwide at comparable costs to other types of flooring.Cost:$12–$14 sq. ft. ( ½” thick coverage)This was a non-union job in New York City.Outside of New York City, concrete flooring costs about $8-$12 sq. ft. depending on your geographic location and the thickness of the overlay. Thickness is determined by the condition of existing substrate. Is the substrate new, old, level, good condition, deteriorated, plywood or gypsum? The cost of this flooring system (all products needed to complete the project) is even less if you’re willing to do-it-yourself: $4.50 – $5.00 sq. ft.The cost is comparable to other types of flooring including:HardwoodCeramic or Porcelain TileCommercial CarpetMarbleThe Success:The contractor, Mirage Finishes of Valley Stream, NY, installed a beautiful and durable concrete overlay that was exactly what the client had imagined. Agency RX’s office space now feels like the work they do, unique, contemporary, and eye-catching. And because the floor will last as long as the business does, their new floor is a long-term investment for their short-term expense.
